During the last three months, our Daytime Children’s Comprehensive Care Center (CIDAI for its Spanish acronym) received 88 people under 18-year-old. They are divided into three groups: 18 in early childhood, 25 in preschool and 45 in primary school.
After several months of work, around 50 girls have graduated from our Girls Club. The graduated girls are from the communities of Llanito, Villareal, Brasilito and El Llano. We share the testimonies of Genesis and Érica. Genesis from Brasilito expressed: “I thank Professor Kathia very much because thanks to her I know what physical, psychological abuse is, and also how, where and why to file a complaint. We also learn about crafts and recycling. I thank CEPIA and all the sponsors.” Erica de Villarreal told us: “The teacher Kathia has taught me to be a different person, to work as a team, to share and to be kind. I thank her for her time, for her love and for her trust.”
Once again, we held the Free Camp for Boys and Girls from all the communities near our institution. The activity took place from January 28 to 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. There was a daily attendance of 80 boys and girls during the four days of camping. In order to stimulate learning with significant content and strengthening the link with nature, the kids worked the four elements of nature associated with a color: air with the color gray, earth with green, water with blue and fire with orange and red. We thank our staff and our dear volunteers for their work. We thank students from the Latin University: Ma. Fernanda Acosta, Angelina Bastasch, Dicson Bustos, Yenory Peralta, Jennilly Chavarria, Jennifer Rosales, María del Mar Sotela and Natalia Zuñiga.
In February, a workshop was held on the appropriate use of social networks for 11 CIDAI boys and girls. We appreciate the collaboration of our social worker, Priscilla Arias Rodríguez.
We are very happy to have delivered 638 school supply packages and 345 elementary and secondary school uniforms. Thanks to them the children were ready to start a new school year in February.
From now on we have a mindful play center in the library for our children to enjoy. This play space allows us to connect with children through imagination and games.
We thank 3Form and Costa Rica DMC for donating 50 bikes to low-income families. Now boys and girls can enjoy and exercise outdoors.
The ConnectOcean group started the Nippers Program that will last 12 Saturdays. 10 boys and girls from Villarreal will participate in this incredible program.
As we care about our environment, CEPIA participated in several beach cleanings. On February 5 in Playa Brasilito with the Beyond Sport volunteers and the following day in Tamarindo with Simona Daniele.
